Gutierrez defends the throphy

The national golfer, Lucia Gutierrez with only 17 years, won last year the ninth edition of the South American Amateur Golf Championship.

The tournament was held at the Country Club of Barranquilla, Colombia. “I’m still in shock, has been a great experience to be able to win here. I’m just very happy and I thank God for helping me,”  said Lucia, who was joined on the podium by the English Paul Howard, winner of the category Knights.

Lucia currently resides in the United States and studied at the University of Berkeley in California, is located in the 99th World Amateur Golf Ranking and has high chances of qualifying for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games
